ARTIST STATEMENT
I use film, video and performance both as tools of representation and to create immersive environments that transport the viewer into another state of consciousness. As a plastic, contingent document of reality, video is a signal that can carry the elusive qualities of emotion, memory and perception. Film is an indexical medium with its own aesthetic qualities, unique in its materiality and corporeality.

With each installation and performance, whether using film or video, my aim is to use the chosen medium’s qualities to produce a collision of fantasy and reality that elicits complex emotions.

At the core of my work is the creation of an inner language of subjective thoughts and collective experience. My work seeks to affect the viewer through visceral imagery with a strong emotional resonance. It is not, however, romantic: it has a political edge, and through elision and conceptual frameworks I leave it to the viewer to assemble his or her own manifold personal readings.
